"As acting is a creative and personal art and a detailed craft, so also is stage and film direction." - Manuel Urrego
As members of TheStudio become proficient in the technique and philosophy of TheStudio, we encourage the application of this knowledge to be applied to directing actors in scene work, and other aspects of our art.
For those actors who wish to direct in class we require that the member be in good standing with TheStudio such that there is continuous growth and maturation in all the aspects of TheStudio. I.e., Attendance, continuous scene presentation, attitude is strong and vibrant, and administration of career is being pursued. If such is the case we open the door to the responsibility and growth as a director of actors in TheStudio.
The material chosen and casting choices will be approved by the teacher. Critiques will mainly focus on the director and will be very detailed in the analyses of all of his or her choices.
We strongly recommend the directing works of Milton Katselas and Elia Kazan be thoroughly read and studied.
